Rockstar Forgets Generative IA and Microtransactions in GTA VI

Rockstar has officially confirmed that the next Grand Theft Auto VI will not use neither microtransactions nor artificial intelligence generated in its development. The statement, made during an interactive preview at the headquarters of Rockstar North in Edinburgh, is part of a series of statements made by Strauss Zelnick, president of Take-Two Interactive, who reiterated the approach “street road” in the construction of the game, avoiding solutions based on traditional AI. Rob Nelson, co-director of Rockstar North studio, clarified to Kinda Funny Games conductors Andy Cortez and Greg Miller that the game will have no monetization mechanism through in-game purchases with real money. Similarly, artificial intelligence generated – a controversial practice in the video industry – was not used in the creation of the title. The answer concerns specific generative tools, rather than artificial intelligence systems that for a long time regulate traffic, pedestrians and the behavior of law enforcement forces in previous saga routes. This choice aligns with what previously stated by Zelnick at GamesIndustry in February last, which stressed that the worlds of GTA 6 were built "one by one", rather than generated procedurally. The figures for animations were made known: GTA 6 will contain over 600,000 animations, exceeding 55,000 in GTA 5 and 300,000 Red Dead Redemption 2. Despite the confirmation of the single-player version, Rockstar has avoided releasing details about the future release of GTA Online, already for over a decade based on the Shark Cards model. The price structure for the editions of the game remains at two levels: the standard edition costs $80 while the Ultimate Edition is sold at $100, including additional content as a bonus for the preorder. Data provided by Sensor Tower indicate an increase of 436% of preorders on August 27, the day the Extended Look on Netflix aired, compared to the previous day and 572% between August 27 and 28 compared to the average of the previous 30 days. PlayStation sales increased by 606%, while Xbox increased by 127%. At the beginning of the campaign, reservations reached 4.55 million.
