PS5 GTA VI Regional Codes: Xbox Series X|S Get a Critical Advantage

Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that the distribution of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), scheduled for November 19, 2026, will be exclusively via digital download, eliminating optical discs. However, this choice has generated a problematic situation: activation codes for PlayStation 5 (PS5) are subject to regional restrictions, while Xbox Series X|S users are not affected. Rockstar's policy requires PS5 owners to have a PlayStation Network (PSN) account registered in the country or region to activate the download code. Otherwise, the PSN system will refuse activation, preventing the player from downloading and starting the game. This limitation was caused by Sony’s impossibility to allow users to change their region/country on the PSN account, a significant obstacle for those who move frequently or look for more affordable prices. Creating a secondary account in a different region is a temporary solution that is not ideal for using the main account. To manage this division of the PS5 market, Rockstar defined the following regional partitions: North America: United States and Canada. Europe:* United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and other supported European countries. Japan: Valid only in Japan; the codes issued in Japan expire 170 days after the release date (19 November 2026). Asia: Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and other supported Asian markets. Latin America: Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and LATAM countries. Oceania: Australia and New Zealand. This geographical division creates a significant advantage for the Xbox Series X|S community, which can freely use download codes from any international market without technical restrictions. Microsoft's open policy offers players flexibility to search for promotional offers or buy the game at more advantageous prices, based on their geographical location.
