Spot TV GTA 6: Delete Cuts from Shower and Disappeared the Xbox Branding – Detailed Analysis

The TV spots of Grand Theft Auto VI, popular for the promotion of the outgoing game on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, have significant differences regarding the original launch trailer. A detailed analysis by the community highlighted two substantial changes. First, the iconic shower scenes that featured the trailer with the characters Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos were completely removed from both the 30-second version and the 90-second version. This choice is attributable to television programming standards, limiting the duration of spots to the hourly evening transmission bands. Second, the Xbox branding was completely eliminated by TV spots. This detail is in line with the promo agreement between Rockstar Games and Sony PlayStation, which seems to favour the promotion on PS5 platform for Grand Theft Auto VI, despite the game will also be available on Xbox Series X|S at launch. To fill the space left by the cuts, the 30-second version has slightly extended some sequences, such as that of the plane and a scene in which Jason Duval pushes Lucia Caminos, almost making it fall near their car. The 90-second version, on the other hand, contains the shower scenes and includes the extended sequences in the short version, representing the most complete version of the three. Despite the lack of the Xbox logo in TV commercials, Rockstar Games still maintains the game confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with date of release fixed on November 19. The marketing strategy focuses mainly on PlayStation, highlighting an exclusive agreement between the two platforms. The company has also opened some real pop-ups of Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell for the sale of GTA themed food, further expanding the involvement of the public in the world of the game.
