Sending Danganronpa 2x2: Rockstar Play Valley with the Deadline for GTA VI

The title Danganronpa 2x2, originally planned for 2026, was officially postponed to 2027 by Spike Chunsoft. The decision, communicated following the abandonment of the original window, is motivated by the will to avoid overlaps with the exit of Grand Theft Auto VI and give the development of the game the time necessary to complete the development. The producer Shohei Sakakibara has specified that the priority was to avoid any concomitance with an impressive AAA or AAAA output, recognizing the potential impact on the production of GTA VI. Kazutaka Kodaka has made jokes about the incident, admitting that the postponement would be inevitable due to the lack of time to work on Danganronpa 2x2 while he devoted himself to the game of Rockstar. The choice is therefore a clear demonstration of the workload imposed by the simultaneous development of the two projects. Danganronpa 2x2 will present an updated version of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and a new alternative scenario, Slayhem. Players can choose between the two campaigns from the start without having to complete the original story. Slayhem will be set in the same universe as Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, with the same characters and the basic system of the 2012 game, but with new victims, guilty, tricks and puzzles. The main campaign (Original) will take about 30 hours of play, while Slayhem is estimated to last almost 35 hours. Spike Chunsoft described Slayhem as an expansion of 20% compared to the original campaign, significantly adding to the total content of the game. The developers have provided new features, including new portraits for characters and a three-dimensional map with quick travel, expanding the exploration experience. Danganronpa 2x2 will attract a total of over 10 million copies sold worldwide. The exact date of launch in 2027 will remain to be defined. The title will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
