Control Resonant minimizes the upcoming influence of GTA 6 on its development plans

Fifty-six days will separate Control Resonant from the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, but the imminent arrival of the Rockstar Games game did not represent a determining factor for Remedy. To clarify it was Sergey Mohov, lead gameplay designer of the new action RPG, responding directly to the theme of the proximity between the outputs planned for 2026. Interviewed about the potential influence of GTA 6 on the project calendar, Mohov said: "We do not think it has conditioned us at all, to be honest." The designer added that the issue "was not really a big consideration for us", thus reducing the impact attributed to the launch of the Rockstar title on team decisions. The two dates, however, remain relatively close. Control Resonant will be released worldwide on 24 September 2026, while Grand Theft Auto VI is set at 19 November 2026. Remedy's game will therefore precede Rockstar's 56-day game, a distance that would not lead the studio to substantially change its schedule. The date of Control Resonant had been formalized along with details on the launch. On its debut, Control Resonant will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with distribution through Steam and Epic Games Store. The Mac version will arrive later in 2026. Grand Theft Auto VI is currently on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, thus maintaining a partial overlap between the two-game platforms. Beyond the calendar, the new chapter of Remedy will also propose an important change on the front of the protagonist and ambition. The playable character will be Dylan Faden, while the action will move from the Oldest House to a Manhattan deformed by paranormal phenomena. The new scenario will accompany a structure that Remedy presents as that of an action RPG more focused on body-to-body combat. A central role in the fights will be entrusted to Aberrant, a mutagenic weapon linked to the new setting of the combat system. The move to Dylan and the transfer of action to Manhattan thus define the direction chosen for the sequel, while maintaining a link with the origins of the series. Control Resonant is developed and published directly by Remedy Entertainment, which has already opened the preorders of digital and physical editions. The words of Mohov clearly define the position of the study: the presence of GTA 6 less than two months away has been considered publicly, but it has not been a determining consideration for the team's plans.
