The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection: Rockstar launches the Collector Box at $399.99

Rockstar continues to provide details about the next GTA VI, overcoming the usual trailers and gameplay sessions. The new collector box, “The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection”, opens the gift shop directly within the universe of the game: Leonida. Available at the price of 399.99 dollars and limited edition, it is already available for pre-order on the Rockstar Store until stocks are exhausted. The videogame is not included. The collector box includes eleven elements, with the official statuette of Macca the Gator (with a hidden compartment in the base). Also included are a pair of black Oakley Frogskins glasses with Prizm Sapphire lens and GTA6 pink logo, a New Era 9FORTY hat, a crossbody bag Leonida Keys, a magnetic mirror, a shot glass dedicated to Chunkeee the Manatee, a spoon for mixing cocktails, a poster showing the entire map of the state of Leonida, pins, stickers and even a key. This launch points out that Vice City is not only the city where we will play, but it is becoming a place with its television programs, brands, souvenirs and an internationally recognizable pop culture. It adds to the recent announcement of the official GTA6 album, which includes 34 original songs created by artists like Travis Scott, Future, Metro Boomin, Morgan Wallen, PinkPantheress, Rauw Alejandro, Fred again and Keith Richards, for further indication of how Rockstar is managing the expectation for the release of GTA VI. VERDETTO: MISTO Il lancio della "The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection" è un esercizio di marketing decisamente interessante, e forse anche un po’ inquietante. L'idea di creare una vera e propria cultura pop interna all'universo di GTA VI, con programmi televisivi, marchi e souvenir legati a Leonida (e in particolare a Vice City), rivela quanto Rockstar stia investendo nella costruzione di un mondo che va ben oltre la semplice esperienza di gioco. L’inclusione di artisti musicali contemporanei – Travis Scott, Future, ecc. – per l'album ufficiale è un altro tassello che contribuisce a questa costruzione di universo parallelo, una sorta di simulazione di realtà dove GTA VI non è solo un videogioco, ma un vero e proprio brand con la sua identità culturale. Tuttavia, il prezzo di 399,99 euro per una scatola da collezione senza il gioco stesso solleva legittimi dubbi sulla convenienza dell'acquisto, specialmente considerando che Rockstar ha già annunciato che il gioco non sarà incluso nella confezione della collector box. Il focus su Ocean Beach e Port Gellhorn, con i relativi oggetti da collezione, è un tentativo di focalizzare l’attenzione sul gameplay in quelle zone, ma rischia di essere un po’ forzato, data la sua importanza limitata nel contesto generale del gioco secondo le informazioni disponibili. La presenza di Macca the Gator, come icona kitsch e riconoscibile, appare piuttosto riuscita, ma il resto della collezione – occhiali Oakley, cappelli, specchi magnetici – sembra più un esercizio di design che un vero valore aggiunto per i collezionisti.
