Pre-orders GTA 6 on Xbox: Record and Timor for Microsoft

Xbox revealed that Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders are breaking numerous records for the company. This information was disclosed as a result of a recent publication. As Tom Warren of The Verge reports, the overall pre-orders for the new Rockstar game are “strongly oriented towards PS5”. This information comes from internal sources to Xbox. This has aroused serious concern within the console manufacturer based in Seattle, considering the lower market share of Xbox and the increase in hardware prices. In response to this report, Matthew Ball, Xbox Chief Strategy Officer, replied by posting a tweet: “We are very pleased with the pre-orders of GTA VI. The title is breaking records for Xbox and we expect other records will be broken during autumn. Our internal analysis shows that our pre-order share corresponds to our market share consoles.” This reflects the fact that many more users are pre-ordering the game on PlayStation due to its significantly greater installed base. In terms of market shares, sales are not a real step forward. Yes, some people buy consoles, including some Xbox, but the high cost is not changing the cards on the table much compared to the PlayStation. The PlayStation ground competition is still firmly rooted. Some of these performances can be attributed to the close marketing agreement between Rockstar and Sony. We saw how Rockstar promotes Grand Theft Auto VI with a “Plays Best on PlayStation” banner, featuring limited edition GTA VI controllers exclusively for PS5, merchandising and advertising that show the PS5 version of the game when you try to pre-order. Some users also asked if the game is exclusive to PlayStation. Rockstar gave Sony a significant advantage in this regard. Although most of the community of players is unsatisfied with Sony for a myriad of reasons, this has had no measurable impact on the ability to generate profits with Grand Theft Auto 6. Both PlayStation and Xbox need the success of GTA VI to relaunch the stagnant sales of consoles. However, this may not be enough. The highest entry barrier is simply discouraging some consumers. It remains to be seen how the events will take place during November. As an Xbox user and frustrated friend from the complex PlayStation, Microsoft must remain competitive to meet consumer needs.
