Microsoft clarifies: GTA VI will not be available streaming on PC at launch
The news that had fueled the wait has definitely swelled. After a series of indiscretions that had suggested an unpublished agreement between Microsoft and Take‐Two to bring GTA 6 stream exclusively through Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch, on PC and potentially mobile devices and smart TV, an official denial came. To clarify the situation was Matthew Ball, Xbox Chief Strategy Officer, who on their social channels defined the previous statements as wrong reports. Ball confirmed that GTA 6 will regularly arrive on Xbox on November 19, but will not be available in exclusive streaming for green cloud service or PC. A clear and direct communication, which definitively concludes speculation around an exclusive cloud potential. The noises, powered by a The Verge report, had speculated that Xbox would get exclusive streaming rights for GTA 6 per day one, allowing players without PlayStation and Xbox console access via cloud. The report also cited an internal intervention by Asha Sharma, Xbox CEO, defined at the time "that no other platform holder is doing". This hypothesis immediately generated a lively debate: an exclusive of this type would offer Microsoft a significant strategic advantage, enhancing the cloud as an alternative channel for access to video games and exploiting the popularity of the new Rockstar Games title. If confirmed, the deal would represent a direct response to the strong PlayStation presence in the GTA 6 communication, in terms of dedicated marketing, limited editions with the DualSense and the promise that the game "will play best" on PS5. Ball's denial finally concludes the question: GTA 6 will not be playable on PC via Xbox Cloud at launch, and there is no exclusive streaming. The game will arrive on Xbox on November 19, while PC players will have to wait for the dedicated version that Rockstar will announce in the future.
