Lucia Caminos: Rockstar aims to create an icon like Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic

About a month after the launch, GTA VI's promotional machine entered the live and Rockstar Games is aiming to push the title with an unprecedented campaign. Among the most recent initiatives, there is a promotional operation linked to Miami, which could be symbolically transformed into Vice City in view of the release of the game, including the proposal to rename the Miami Heat in Vice City Heat for a single NBA game. Rockstar's ambition is not only about marketing, but also the depth of the game world: over 170 animal species, a dynamic weather system and an open world structure designed to be constantly alive and rich in activities. To capture the attention is above all Lucia Caminos, one of the two main protagonists of GTA VI, destined to play a central role in the narrative. Rockstar aims to build with Lucia Caminos and his companion Raul Bautista a narrative icon comparable to that created by Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic. Lucia was conceived to leave the mark in the imagination of the players. In a study published by Love Magazine, the screenwriter Alexa D’Agostino explained that she wrote Lucia with the aim of making her a memorable character, capable of imposing herself at the same level as two of the most beloved figures in the history of Rockstar. Augustine told her that she was also inspired by her mother during the construction of the character, trying to transfer to Lucia recognizable features in strong and determined women of the real world. The goal is not to create a perfect protagonist, but rather imperfect, contradictory and tied to certain cliches, to give her greater humanity and to make her feel like a complete person. According to D’Agostino, this complexity should allow Lucia to “make the comparison” with characters like Arthur Morgan and Niko Bellic. The creative team aims at emotional involvement similar to that aroused by previous titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2. The new chapter promises a constantly active open world, numerous secondary activities and more explicit content than the previous chapters, consolidating Rockstar's goal of turning GTA VI not only into one of the most important video games of his generation, but into a real cultural phenomenon.
