Preorders GTA 6: Take-Two Announces Numbers “Without Precedents”

The enthusiasm for the release of GTA VI continues to translate into a horrific success of preorders. According to Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, bookings of the new chapter of the Rockstar Games series have reached levels never seen before, making it difficult to accurately estimate their impact on overall sales at launch. Interviewed by Variety, Zelnick defined the volume of exceptional bookings, while maintaining a cautious attitude and stressing that such data still do not allow to predict with certainty how many copies will be sold once the title is available on the market. Among the factors that contributed to the strong response of the public is the price strategy adopted by Rockstar Games: in Europe, GTA 6 is offered at 79.99 euros for the standard edition and at 99.99 euros for the Ultimate Edition, figures now in line with those of the main triple A games; in the United States, the basic price of 79.99 dollars represents an increase of approximately ten dollars regarding the most popular standards of recent years. According to Zelnick, this increase did not stop the interest of players, which Rockstar has been able to correctly position the different editions, offering the public the possibility to choose according to their economic availability and level of interest for the game. Preorder data are very positive, both for absolute numbers and for distribution among the various editions available. Take-Two now provides net bookings for $8.2 billion, compared to the 8 billion previously estimated, including the total value of sales accounted for through products, preorders and digital content.
