Zelda Remake or Challenge with GTA VI? Speculation analysis

A hallway voice suggests that Nintendo could launch a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in November, potentially a few days before the release of Grand Theft Auto VI on 19 November 2026. This speculation came from the publication of two new Nintendo amiibos with release date scheduled around 11 or 12 November. As often happens, Nintendo releases the amiibos parallel to large exclusive titles, and at the moment has not announced any game for that month. The theory, therefore, is that the release of the amiibo in mid-November could coincide with an important Nintendo title, precisely the remake of the classic N64 title. It is important to point out that this is speculation, although the frequent association between amiibo and the launch of games by Nintendo makes the logic plausible. However, attributing to this situation an imminent “battle” between the two giants of gaming is premature. The most interesting element is the contrast between the two experiences: Grand Theft Auto VI, an epic crime-focused adult game and available exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series console, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, a family-friendly fantasy adventure destined to the only Nintendo Switch 2. The two experiences do not share gender, tone, PEGI rating or gaming platform; their overlap is limited to the launch price of about 80 dollars. Considering that GTA 6 will not be available on Nintendo hardware, a Switch 2 console owner cannot purchase it at launch. For this player, Zelda's remake is the only important title to play in November. Nintendo does not aim to subtract customers to Rockstar, but to serve a different audience, with distinct needs and preferences. In addition, Nintendo’s long history of ignoring industry trends has led industry to adapt and avoid the launch of major titles in November, moving most of the releases in September and October. Nintendo could then fill the gap left by GTA 6, focusing attention on remake (and other titles such as Devolver Digital). Ultimately, the launch near Grand Theft Auto VI could actually benefit from the remake of Zelda Ocarina of Time, offering an alternative for players who cannot access GTA 6.
