Sony reacts to the absence of physics in GTA 6: a battle for market perception

After discovering that the pre-orders of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) on PC did not include a physical version, Sony is forced to urgently review its marketing strategy. The crucial mistake was the inclusion of PS5 images with a DVD player, creating confusion among potential buyers who expected a physical copy of the game. The company had to quickly remove previous advertising campaigns and replace them with ads that highlight the digital edition available for PlayStation 5. The decision of Rockstar Games to release GTA 6 exclusively in digital version, without physical records, generated surprise among consumers, especially considering that pre-ordered specimens had as only content a code to be inserted. Despite this unforeseen, Sony and Rockstar Games continue to collaborate, exploiting the hype generated by the title to promote the PS5 through advertising campaigns on Twitter, Instagram and other channels. According to rumors reported by Take-Two Interactive, CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed an important marketing agreement with Sony in May 2026. Please note that GTA 6 packages will be available for PS5 or PS5 Pro, focusing on superior performance such as 60 frames per second (fps) to maximize sales. The absence of physics is fueling controversy in the world of collectors and the market of use. With prices ranging from 80 to 100 dollars, many fans express disappointment for the lack of physical copies to be exhibited. In addition, the download code system makes it more difficult to resale or exchange copies of the game, a particularly relevant problem for GTA 6, focusing mainly on single-player modes, and so the user market may be ineffective.
