GTA 6: Rockstar amplifies the open world with extended map, dynamic weather and new activities

Rockstar has released new screenshots and details on Grand Theft Auto VI, unveiling an unprecedented open world experience. The game map will be about twice as large as that of GTA V, offering a vastness never seen before. Among the most important news, the implementation of the local weather, with atmospheric phenomena such as hurricanes, flying rain and thunderstorms that will dynamically affect the surrounding environment. The weather system will work on a local scale: it will be possible to swirls that will leave wet roads and puddles, the wind will change the vegetation, water, hair of the characters and debris. Tropical storms and hurricanes will also be planned. In addition to the dynamic environment, GTA 6 will present more than 170 animal species, including more than 60 types of birds and over 30 mammals – alligators, lamantines, flamingos, pelicans and iguanas are just some of the natives. Players can follow the traces of some rare or legendary species. The activities available will be numerous: base jumping, diving, fishing, billiards, minigolf, kayaking, racing, motocross, water bike tours and water sliders will offer a variety of entertainment options. As for security, the "wanted level" system will return with more complex rules: the police will take into account the appearance of the character and location of the crime, encouraging players to vary clothing or hairstyle to avoid being identified. Car theft will also be made more challenging, requiring the use of specific tools for some vehicles and equipping high-end models of protection systems and localizers. Grand Theft Auto VI will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S from 19 November 2026. The PC version has not yet been officially announced, but is expected to be released later.
