Take-Two: Preorders GTA VI Ultimate Edition in head of sales despite the price of $100

Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, said that the preorders of GTA 6 Ultimate Edition are leading the charts, facing its price of $100. In an interview with CNBC, Zelnick avoided divulging full sales data, highlighting that initial orders could be concentrated among the most interested fans on Xbox and PS5, scheduled for launch on November 19. Zelnick added that sales exceeded expectations, despite the reserves on the potential drop in sales at launch. The Ultimate Edition, which includes bonus content such as vehicles, clothing and additional weapons, is becoming particularly popular with the $80 Standard Edition, offered with the "code in the package". Despite the criticism of collectors regarding the decrease in the use of PS5 discs, the preorders of GTA 6 were not influenced. Zelnick pointed out that Take-Two is focused on offering the public the maximum value, a strategy that seems to have received the appreciation of players ready to pay a surcharge for the Ultimate Edition. Si tratta del terzo capitolo della saga e, onestamente, il livello di attesa è enorme - anche se devo ammettere che la strategia dei contenuti extra mi sembra un po' abusata: spesso si finisce per pagare un sovrapprezzo enorme per ricevere cose che poi si trovano facilmente nel gioco base. Vedremo se l’offerta di veicoli esclusivi come il Vapid Stanier e l’abbigliamento, e se la presenza di armi speciali, sarà sufficiente a giustificare quel prezzo. Il fatto che gli ordini siano concentrati su Xbox e PS5 fa pensare a una forte componente di "hype" legata alle console, ma mi sembra anche una scelta strategica per massimizzare il ritorno sull'investimento considerando i costi di sviluppo del gioco.
