Take-Two Betting on GTA VI Despite Consul Price Increase

The price of consoles continues to be a challenge for the industry. Between list increases and growing hardware costs, the purchase of a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S has become more expensive, raising questions about impact on launches such as Grand Theft Auto VI. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, acknowledged the criticality of the situation, stating that the increase in hardware costs is not a positive element for industry. However, society does not seem to fear significant consequences. Take-Two believes that cheaper platforms favour greater accessibility and a wider audience, avoiding creating entrance barriers, especially for those who need to purchase the specific hardware to play GTA VI. The company's trust comes from the strength of its productions, especially from the expectation to the new chapter of Rockstar Games, considered one of the most important launches in the market and able to convince a part of the public to buy new consoles. Zelnick points out that Take-Two does not consider hardware to be an important factor to change the company’s future expectations. The videoludic market has profoundly changed, with the PC that has acquired a huge weight, reaching sales quotas up to 40-5% for some multiplatform productions. The perspective of GTA VI thus appears crucial to Take-Two, offering potential independent growth from the price of consoles.
