For the first time since the release of the first and second trailers, Grand Theft Auto VI is about to show something that looks like its real face. On August 27, Rockstar Games debuted with Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, and it will stream it on Netflix, six hours before filming reaches YouTube and the official Rockstar channels. As we have already discussed, this presentation is more important than it looks and what is expected when it is on the air, now the number one of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, has finally expressed his opinion on this. The CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, met with Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier and asked him a very common question: will the extended test convey the atmosphere of a Netflix program? Zelnick's answer was one word: yes. He called it an unmissable event and said that the reason why the Netflix channel was chosen will become clear only once people look at it. Until now, we have only received breathtaking but strictly controlled views, with a lot of emphasis on the atmosphere and little attention to the action of play in person. An extended test is a step ahead of this, the first true window on how the game plays. Schreier previews a thorough look at real gameplay, with the only note that Rockstar packs it as a television program, on the world’s largest streaming platform, and advertises it as a show. Unfortunately, "deep gameplay" and "like a Netflix program" do not represent the same promise. Our best guess is that we will get a hybrid of live shooting, cinematic scenes and short fragments of the next Grand Theft Auto running, assembled with the type of production on which Netflix based its success. What is confirmed for the debut of August 27 and what not? The handful of details confirmed next to everything Rockstar still does not say, with three weeks on the date of release. Netflix has over 300 million subscribers and has already included old GTA games in its service. Release the presentation there first puts GTA 6 in front of parents, random audiences and people who know the name but have never become daily buyers. It also creates a monocultural moment, with everyone looking at the same instant, instead of the fragmented slide of a premiere on YouTube. For a game that has grown too much for the industry that surrounds it, turning a trailer into something you absolutely have to see with the rest of the world seems to be a logical and natural step. But not everything is positive. For years, Rockstar presentations have been pure, free and organized by everyone at the same time. Now the first six hours belong to who has a Netflix account. If you don't have it, you have to wait at 21:00 ET or go looking for grainy footage that will certainly leak during the live. The clip is free on the Rockstar channels the same day, so no one is forced to pay Netflix, but some places in other parts of the world are essentially excluded. The pros and cons of the presentation on Netflix earlier. Because this move makes sense to Rockstar and is an organic step towards the evolution of the game, taking into account changes in how to use digital content.
