Sending Six Months to GTA VI? An Ex Rockstar Raises the Fears

Mike York, former senior animator of Rockstar Games with key roles in GTA 5, GTA Online and Red Dead Redemption 2, expressed his concern for a possible further postponement of the launch of GTA VI, speculating a six-month delay. The statement arrives as Rockstar maintains an arguing silence on the planned summer marketing campaign, only three months from the official date set at 19 November 2026. York has stated that Rockstar's decision to postpone the game does not surprise, based on the attitude of players who, according to him, would remain patient waiting for the title. His statement is based on his prior experience in the study and not on official internal information, having left Rockstar years ago. As you know, GTA VI has already undergone two revivals. Originally planned for autumn 2026, the game was initially moved to 26 May 2026, then further postponed to November 2026, at the current date. Rockstar has always motivated the delays with the need to finish the product, without mentioning productive problems. The lack of novelty on the game for over a month, despite the promises of a summer marketing campaign, arouses concern in the field. Other insiders, like NateTheHate, argue that the wait will bring new promotional materials in conjunction with the next call to Take-Two investors. Rockstar and Take-Two have repeatedly reiterated the planned launch for 19 November 2026. The situation is made more complex by the previous referral, making speculations less easily refutable than occasional items. For now, the opinion of York remains that of an outsider who no longer works in Rockstar, but the fact that GTA VI has already suffered two delays makes its statement more credible.
