Netflix unveils extended preview of GTA VI: an unpublished deal with Rockstar

Rockstar Games has signed an unprecedented partnership with Netflix for the launch of “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look”, a long preview of the most anticipated game of the year. The preview, lasting about an hour, will be available on Netflix Thursday, August 27 at 21:00 (Italian time), and then on the official YouTube channel of Rockstar Games and on the site dedicated to GTA VI. The content will probably show new gameplay sequences and insights into the realisation of the game. The launch of this preview is thirteen years since the debut of GTA V, coinciding with the beginning of Netflix's investment in the original content, a parallelism that the platform wanted to highlight. Brandon Riegg, vice president of Netflix’s Nonfiction Series division, has commented on the initiative, which defines Grand Theft Auto’s revealing true cultural events, underlining the incredible expectation surrounding the sixth chapter. According to Riegg, the collaboration with Rockstar Games represents a step towards the idea of a platform capable of hosting the most ambitious narratives, regardless of the medium of origin. Despite the enthusiasm, the operation has raised criticism: some professionals and fans have judged the very short window of exclusive Netflix a bold marketing strategy, especially for its promotional nature. The choice of releasing content so limited was seen as a lucrative attempt, which could open the way to new practices in the video industry. GTA VI will be set in the imaginary state of Leonida and will follow the events of Jason and Lucia, involved in a criminal conspiracy after a blow that goes wrong. The game will arrive on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with starting prices of €79.99 for the standard edition and €99.99 for the Ultimate. The preorders are already open.
