Rockstar Games unveiled new details about the GTA VI weather system, reconsidering players how to face environmental challenges in the city of Leonida. The introduction of dynamic climate conditions and their changes in different locations have already lit a lively debate among fans. In a new interview with Game Informer, the developer confirmed that GTA VI will present extreme weather conditions, including localized tropical storms and large-scale hurricanes in the wide game map. Fans were surprised by the inclusion of hurricanes in the incoming title. @nothaileybrooks commented: “Wow, this will be really realistic,” expressing the need for a “full hurricane survival kit”. Also @adv vkr expressed his wonder: “Uragani a Vice City? Driving has become much more dangerous.” The @realdreafox fan praised developers for attention to detail and described new mechanics as a " paradigm shift" in gameplay. @BRK rmfc underlined the ingenuity of the weather engine, writing: “GTA 6 is focusing on reality. Tropical storms and hurricanes will make you feel absolutely wild. Similarly, @Wench bbg imagined a dramatic situation: "I imagine chasing the police during a hurricane and dying instead." The GTA 6 weather system is designed to make the environment an integral element of the world, not only an animated background. The rain will be localized, with specific areas of Leonida that will experience time while others will remain sun. Players will notice wet NPCs and small water wells near street lamps and corners. The wind system received significant attention: the winds can move hair and debris on the roofs, make water ripple and bend the grass into the bogs of Leonida. “We have redesigned our weather system to make it much more localized and persistent, really trying to make the world feel a dynamic solidity and get a scale we never felt before,” said Tom Shepherd, co-director of Rockstar San Diego. Grand Theft Auto VI will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026.
