Grand Theft Auto VI, known as GTA VI, is an open world adventure game in development at Rockstar Games, with the publication curated by Rockstar herself. It represents the eighth main chapter of the Grand Theft Auto saga, and the direct follow-up of Grand Theft Auto V (2013). The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida, and follows the events of the criminal duo formed by brothers Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. The game world includes Vice City, an interpretation of the city of Miami, and is freely explored. According to Take-Two Interactive, the main production began in 2020, following the success of Red Dead Redemption II. After years of alleged indiscretion, Rockstar officially confirmed the development of the video game in February 2022. In the following September, films of incomplete versions were leaked, eliciting one of the biggest news outlets in the history of the video industry. The game was formally presented in December 2023 with the first trailer, followed by a second trailer on May 6, 2025 and the Grand Theft Auto VI presentation: An Extended Look on August 27, 2026. The game map includes Vice City, already present in Grand Theft Auto (1997) and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002), as well as in the spin-off title Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (2006). The Leonida Keys, modeled on the Everglades, Port Gellhorn and Mount Kalaga National Park complete the ambientation. The game offers a satirical representation of the American culture of the years 2020, with references to social media, celebrities, technologies of law enforcement (body cam) and the phenomenon “Florida Man”. The plot follows Jason Duval, a former military involved in drug trafficking in Leonida Keys, and Lucia Caminos, the first non-optional female protagonist of the series, previously imprisoned for defending his family. Involved in a wrongful robbery, the two find themselves at the center of a criminal conspiracy that extends across the whole region of Leonida and are forced to cooperate. The game will be released initially for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The date of release was originally scheduled for 2025, but was postponed until 26 May 2026, before being definitively fixed on 19 November 2026. La presenza di elementi come Vice City (già presente in titoli precedenti) e Port Gellhorn, modellata sulle Everglades, suggerisce una mappa complessa ma anche la possibilità di ripetizioni narrative o di ambientazioni poco sviluppate.
