Classification ESRB confirms cutting-edge graphics and mature content for GTA VI

By GTA6 Hub editorial team

Rockstar Games continues to surprise with the premises of GTA VI, promising a technological leap comparable to that already accomplished by Red Dead Redemption 2. An in-depth analysis of the Trailer 2, conducted by Digital Foundry, highlights a very high-level technical section, characterized by global ray tracing lighting, a density of unprecedented screen objects and an extremely realistic bodily detail rendering. The lighting, in particular, was the subject of great attention: the Digital Foundry team noted the use of RTGI and the design of the game that seemed aimed precisely at exploiting this technology, parallel to the behavior of ray tracing in the PC version of GTA 5, a crucial test for the sixth chapter. Although ray tracing is applied to reflections (though with some limitations on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S), use for shadows is more park, relying on technology similar to that used in Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 (PC version of 2015), although with margins of improvement. The density of screen objects, the draw distance and above all the management of hair and hair are elements that stand out for their care and attention to detail. Linneman stressed the importance given to the rendering of hair on the arms of Jason Duval, often neglected by developers, as well as the realistic physics of the hair of Lucia Caminos. It is also expected the return of the mechanics of hair growth and beard already seen in Red Dead Redemption 2. The ESRB classification confirms the presence of violence, nudity and sexual content in the game, aligning with the expectations generated by the trailer and the first indiscretions. Given the extreme care for the graphic details and the high performance required, it seems unlikely that GTA VI reaches the 60fps on the console, while a Nintendo Switch 2 version appears virtually impossible.
