Rockstar launches GTA VI trailer on Netflix: bold strategy to attract new subscribers

The long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer will debut exclusively on the Netflix streaming platform, a strategic gesture by Rockstar Games aimed at “experimenting new things” and generating further anticipation for the launch of the game set at 19 November 2026. The agreement with Netflix, which provides for the exclusivity of the trailer for about six hours, represents an unpublished approach in marketing of the video industry, as confirmed by Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive. Zelnick explained that the idea was to use Netflix to present the trailer to a wider audience, without specifying the financial details of the operation. The video will be available on YouTube and other platforms. The wait for the content of the trailer is high: many expect a deeper presentation of the gameplay compared to a simple installation of scenes already seen. This initiative could also be an important opportunity for Netflix, which aims to exploit the huge interest generated by GTA 6 to attract new subscribers. The game is considered one of the most anticipated video events of the year and the new generation of consoles. Rockstar's move is already affecting the industry calendar: several developers decided to anticipate or postpone the releases of their games to avoid a direct confrontation with GTA 6. Zelnick also suggested that this initiative could only be the beginning of a more innovative marketing strategy, aiming to transform every GTA 6 ad into a real global event. To be noted, the exclusive vision of the trailer on Netflix will be available from August 27, 2026 to 21:00 Italian, resulting in public publication six hours later, precisely on August 28, 2026 to 3:00 Italian.
