Take-Two denies Netflix's acquisition entries for GTA VI

The collaboration between Take-Two Interactive and Netflix for the launch of new GTA VI content does not predict a possible acquisition of the company by the giant of the streaming. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, explained this in an interview with CNBC. Zelnick has in fact excluded that Take-Two is interested in selling their group to Netflix or other buyers in the near future, reitering the company's intention to remain independent. The acquisition hypothesis came back to circulate after the announcement of the partnership between the two companies, which previews that Netflix will show new content of GTA VI on August 27 next. The collaboration between Take-Two and Netflix is based on the distribution of some video games on the Netflix Games service, including Red Dead Redemption, but according to Zelnick does not hide any acquisition project. The executive emphasized that Netflix is trying to expand its presence in the video game market, mainly with the goal of increasing the number of subscribers and revenue through new content. Take-Two, which controls Rockstar Games and 2K, currently has a market capitalization of more than $47 billion and plans to exceed $8 billion in revenues over the year. "If there is someone who deserves to be an independent company, we are," said Zelnick. The next big round for Take-Two will be GTA VI, expected on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
