New GTA VI development map reveals an area inspired by Key West

A southern portion of the Leonida Keys, similar to the Key West, emerged from an internal Rockstar Games archive dating back to 2014-2015. The area has not been officially confirmed and appears in a development map of Grand Theft Auto VI, suggesting possible changes during the development of the game. The archive, previously released after a violation in 2022, contains materials related to both GTA V (including deleted content) and preliminary assets for the new chapter. The map, made with provisional assets and loadable within GTA V, shows a southern coast and a larger archipelago than the current reconstructions, especially in the area where the community has approached Key West. It is unclear whether this area has been removed or modified during the development of the game. The temporal distance between the 2014-2015 map and the most recent materials makes it difficult to accurately reconstruct the geographical evolutions. Rockstar Games has not issued any statements on the origin of the archive or on the interpretation of this specific map. The game, set in the fictional state of Leonida inspired by Florida, will also include Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
