GTA VI Exclusive from the Golden Joystick Awards 2026: A Continuous Recognition for Expectation

The 44th Golden Joystick Awards will be held on November 11th. GTA 6 will be released on November 19th. In these eight days the wait is concentrated, with the public vote for most categories that will take place from 25 September to 23 October, while the one for the Ultimate Game of the Year from 26 to 30 October. Each ballot will be analyzed before outsiders have access to the game. This is a curious finding: GTA 6 received the recognition of the most anticipated game two consecutive years, in 2024 and 2025, and the Trailer 2 last year won as the best trailer, defeating titles already released. Rockstar accumulates Golden Joystick Awards for a game that, at the time of the award, is not yet playable. The only year the game is available to the public is not part of the selections. This choice appears sensible, according to who counts the days. The prizes are voted by the public: last year 21 million votes on 22 categories. This mechanism could assign the title of "Year Game" to a product that no one has completed. The waiting prizes already exist, and GTA 6 gets them punctually, representing something different. That the most important one goes to a game that people really finished. The question of the trophy therefore moves to the ceremony of 2027, which will arrive with an entire year of reviews, speedrun and discussions on the final behind: Leonida. The Game Awards have their calendar and threshold, and this is a conversation since December. The only thing that does not change is November 19: eight days after the ceremony, and that date has been confirmed since November 2025.
