Cyberleek Unveils Your Motivations: The Leak of GTA VI Is Not Only Destruction
The Cyberleek group, responsible for the massive leak of material of Grand Theft Auto VI, issued a manifesto in which he explains his motivations, claiming that the act is an act of protest against the practices considered anti-consumer by Rockstar and the video industry as a whole. Although the leak – which includes unpublished videos of the game with the protagonist Jason Duval engaged in driving and fighting sequences on the map of Vice City, Port Gellhorn, Grassrivers and Mount Kalaga – triggered a wave of speculations, the Cyberleek group tries to redefine the context of the "moral question" behind the event. Cyberleek's manifesto denounces a series of practices that, according to them, undermine the quality of the videoludic experience: games sold incomplete presented as “live service”, content already present on disk offered as a paid DLC and the closure of complete title servers without offering refunds. The group also highlights the specific case of Rockstar, with the physical edition of GTA VI that will contain only a download code, excluding the use of a disk. Cyberleek referred to the Stop Killing Games movement, launched by Ross Scott following the closure of the servers of The Crew by Ubisoft, underlining that the GTA 6 leak is not a destructive act, but a form of denunciation against practices considered unfair and harmful to consumers. The group declares the intention to continue to “push” other publishers considered anti-consumer and launched a meme coin used as watermark on video leaked while collecting funds. Cyberleek explicitly requires a public statement by Rockstar, as well as concrete commitments to remedy the critical issues highlighted. In parallel, Rockstar is actively removing the leaked material from social platforms, but the amount of video – which includes the full game map and shooting of the main character Lucia Caminos in action – makes it difficult to avoid spoilers before the planned launch for November 19, 2026. The first official preview on Netflix is scheduled for August 27 with a new exclusive trailer.
