PC players may not have to wait long to explore the world of “Grand Theft Auto VI”. The PC version of the long-awaited game will arrive in the first trimester of 2027, according to a new report of GamesBeat. This means that the game could be available on computers between January and March. Rockstar Games didn't comment on the report. A much shorter waiting period than “GTA 5”. “GTA 6” is scheduled for launch on November 19, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, without a PC version per day. If GamesBeat's report is accurate, PC players will only wait two to four months to get their hands on the game. This would represent a great change over the previous installation. “GTA 5” was launched on September 17, 2013 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 but did not arrive on PC until April 14, 2015, about 19 months later. The release was long awaited. Rockstar first revealed the game in a trailer of December 2023, which showed a modern version of Vice City in the fictional state of Leonida and introduced Lucia and Jason, the two main characters of the game. The launch was subsequently postponed twice before landing on its November date. Why PC players are more important than ever The PC gaming market has grown dramatically over the past 13 years since the start of “GTA 5”, with Steam regularly setting new records for the number of online players at the same time, according to Forbes. This growth is reflected in numbers. PC players currently account for around 42% of the GTA 5 player base, ahead of PlayStation (35%) and Xbox (23%). Much of this growth was led by mod and "GTA Online", where role servers remain enormously popular on PC. Differentiated release times involve compromises for Rockstar. On the one hand, separate launches encourage some fans to buy the game twice, once on the console and then on the PC. On the other hand, some players might wait to purchase the game at launch while waiting for the PC version, which could reduce initial sales. A shorter period could be a bridge, preventing PC players from feeling excluded for too long while giving console players an early start. What will happen to “GTA 6 Online”? Another great question concerns online mode. Rockstar did not say anything about "GTA 6 Online", even with the launch of the game just over a month away. When “GTA 5” came out, its online mode came two weeks later, on October 1, 2013. When the game arrived on PC, “GTA Online” was launched on the platform the same day. Things could be different this time. The Rockstar team could be focused almost exclusively on the completion of the main game and a huge number of players are still active in the current version of "GTA Online", giving the studio less pressure to speed up a new version. There are no signs that “GTA 6 Online” will be launched shortly after the main game or even before the end of 2026. However, Paul Tassi of Forbes suggested that a PC launch in the first quarter of 2027 could be the ideal time to deploy online mode on all platforms simultaneously. What players can expect For now, Rockstar has not confirmed neither a PC republishing nor the release of “GTA 6 Online”.
