RAGE Engine Rewritten by Zero: The Explanation Behind the Rite of GTA VI

The GTA VI exit is scheduled for 19 November 2026, but long waits have fed many speculations. Now a concrete explanation emerges: Rob Carr, Rockstar's former sound engineer, during the Kiwi Talkz podcast reveals a crucial detail. Carr did not work directly at GTA 6, but his thorough knowledge of the company's internal dynamics makes it a reliable source. According to him, the real reason for the delay lies in the need to completely rewrite Rockstar's proprietary graphic engine, the RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine). This engine, developed entirely within the company, has been optimized for the needs of the new chapter, requiring massive intervention. The complete rewriting of the RAGE engine – which includes physics, rendering, audio, artificial intelligence and open environment management – is an extremely complex and challenging operation in terms of time, as Carr confirms. This is not a simple evolution, but a real reconstruction from scratch, to adapt the engine to the ambitions of GTA 6. This explanation radically changes the perspective on the continuous revivals of the game. The delays are not due to management or creative problems, but to the need to build a technological infrastructure of a higher level. Rockstar’s prolonged silence in the years prior to the official announcement was therefore perfectly understandable: the company focused on creating the fundamental tool to make the game. An approach that emphasizes the scope of the operation and the commitment required to ensure a final product at the height of expectations.
