While Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive remain reserved on the preorder numbers of Grand Theft Auto VI, estimates emerge from analysts suggesting a potential record. As already highlighted by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, most users opted for the Ultimate Edition of the game. According to Sensor Tower, however, the situation is even more surprising: 89% of bookings are the Ultimate version, a figure that far exceeds traditional estimates. Sensor Tower analyst Karl Kontus points out that premium editions usually reach 10-20% of initial sales; reaching 50% would already be considered an exceptional result, and this figure is far beyond. Platform-specific percentages are impressive: 90% for Xbox Series X/S players and 88.5% for PlayStation 5 users. This success is probably linked to the combination of the popularity of the game and the value offered by the Ultimate Edition, which includes numerous additional content for a relatively low cost, thus justifying the highest price in the eyes of buyers. It is important to note that this data comes from Sensor Tower and has not yet been confirmed by Rockstar Games or Take-Two. Mi convince poco pensare che la maggior parte dei giocatori sia disposta a spendere quei 100 dollari extra per un mucchio di contenuti aggiuntivi, ma lo scenario attuale, come sottolinea Zelnick, coincide con il profilo di un pubblico particolarmente legato al franchise GTA, quello che si aspetta sempre qualcosa in più, qualcosa che "non si perde" nulla. Il fatto che la concentrazione sia così alta su Xbox Series X/S e PlayStation 5 mi fa pensare a una scelta strategica da parte di Rockstar: puntare sull'hardware più recente per massimizzare l'esperienza visiva del gioco, soprattutto considerando l’importanza della grafica in un titolo come GTA VI. Questo elemento, combinato con la presenza di tonnellate di contenuti extra nell’Ultimate Edition, potrebbe spiegare perché gli utenti scelgono questa variante in maniera così netta; è un investimento per chi vuole "fare sul serio" nel mondo di Vice City e oltre. Non mi stupirebbe se, al lancio, il supporto tecnico dovesse essere particolarmente sotto pressione, dato che la maggior parte dei giocatori avrà acquistato l'Ultimate Edition e quindi sfrutterà tutte le sue funzionalità avanzate. Sarebbe interessante vedere come si comporteranno i preordini sulla versione Standard, ma allo stato delle cose sembra destinata a rimanere una minoranza, quasi un’opzione per chi cerca il minimo indispensabile senza spendere troppo.
