Rockstar Focused on Single Player: No Multiplayer Track for GTA 6 – but an Interesting Indiction

Rockstar Games continues to focus on the single-player narrative experience for Grand Theft Auto VI, keeping at the moment the official mention of a connected multiplayer mode. The study strategy focuses on the new adventure set at Vice City, as confirmed by communications and announcements until now. Despite the long-lasting success of GTA Online, which has turned Los Santos into a vibrant social and creative space – with robberies, criminal companies, nightclubs and community-run role-playing – Rockstar has not yet revealed details about the structure or features of an online compartment for the next chapter. The expression GTA Online 2.0, used previously to describe a potential evolution of the service, is not an official announcement. At the moment, the community’s interest revolves around “Project Rome”, codename linked to a possible expansion of user-generated content, with more advanced tools to build customized experiences within the Grand Theft Auto ecosystem. This strategy is flanked by the acquisition of Cfx.re, the study behind FiveM and RedM, two platforms dedicated to personalized servers and the role-playing game that have demonstrated the interest of players towards alternative experiences to the traditional cycle of missions led by developers. The success of FiveM has highlighted how a large community can create professions, rules and autonomous economies at Vice City, feeding a persistent activity even outside official updates. Economic management methods and details of content moderation, map ownership and project monetization remain uncertain.
