Rockstar: "No One Has Internal Control" – Unlimited Freedom for GTA VI

Rockstar Games has granted GTA 6 developers an unprecedented freedom, with details that neither the tops of the company know. The latest information behind the scenes on the game comes from Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, who deepened his trip to Rockstar North offices in Edinburgh, Scotland, expanding the news shared last week. A particularly interesting detail is the statement that the team, engaged for a decade in the creation of the game on 19 November 2026, had considerable margins of manoeuvre thanks to the possibility to add details simply because they seemed “cool”. Schreier estimated that "no one of Rockstar's top developers" knows every single detail added to Vice City and its numerous NPCs. While stressing that giving the big teams the autonomy to fill each corner of the road is not unusual in the open-world games, the vastness of the budget and the long period of development of GTA 6 ensure that players will continue to discover new details even years after the launch. Aaron Garbut’s commentary, Rockstar’s executive, “There is no one who has the full control.” This statement reflects a common practice within the GTA team, recalling a specific detail from Red Dead Redemption 2: the horse testicles, with the mechanism of reduction of the size in cold conditions, which was developed independently by the team, without being subject to specific requests. The development team has also worked for a long time to eliminate the “wheel” of weapons present in previous games, fearing that the use of a game-style interface would remind players how much they could not carry with them. The team experienced "millions of different things" before returning to the traditional wheel of the weapon. During the development, the GTA 6 team met with difficulties between 2019 and 2022, trying to balance the realistic experience of Red Dead Redemption with arcade architecture GTA.
