Gamescom 2026: GTA VI unveiled on Netflix, the launch fixed on November 19,

COLONIA – The Gamescom 2026 fair has confirmed what has already been suggested: the focus of the event was not the absolute video game, but its exclusive presentation. While more than 1,600 exhibitors filled for the first time the 233,000 square meters of the Cologne fair, Rockstar decided to unveil the extensive video of GTA VI world premiere on Netflix, on August 27 at 21:00 Italian, immediately posting it on YouTube. A streaming platform debut for an open world title had never been experienced before. The game will be available on November 19, both on PlayStation 5 and on Xbox Series X/S at a price of €79.99, while the PC version is still waiting for the release date. The exhibition is increasingly diversified, with the emergence of Chinese titles, mobile games based on microtransactions and greater attention to aesthetics. Despite recent corporate restructuring, the ferment around GTA VI seems to have not affected the many fans who spent hours in the queue to try the game. Gamescom's data confirm a return to normality after a few difficult years: more than 1,600 exhibitors from 67 countries, with a 70% foreign share, and for the first time no company arrived after could book a regular stand. The indie game area has grown by 16%, hosting over 420 companies. The national pavilions are 47, with the debut of Bulgaria, Morocco, Nigeria, Hungary and Cyprus. Visitors are attested to more than 357,000 from 128 countries, almost reaching the 2019 record. During the fair, several demos have been tested, five of which are subject to embargo. CD Projekt Red presented “The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past”, the first expansion of the game since Blood and Wine (released in 2016), in a demo guided and not accessible to the public. The player finds himself in the role of Geralt, with the voice of Doug Cockle, in a new region called Letten, inspired by the English and Polish campaign, characterized by a rural atmosphere of harvests and parties with a "sleeping evil". La menzione di Vice City e Leonida è significativa: la riproposizione di Vice City – che ormai fa parte del folklore della saga – evoca immediatamente il fascino delle epiche storie criminali ambientate in una versione moderna e distorta della Florida, mentre l'introduzione di Leonida, un nuovo stato fittizio, apre a nuove possibilità narrative e di design del mondo di gioco. La presenza di Lucia Caminos come protagonista femminile non opzion, come menzionato da Ansa, è un aspetto particolarmente atteso dalla community, dopo anni in cui le protagoniste femminili nella saga GTA sono state spesso marginali o con ruoli limitati. L’anteprima si concentra sull'ambientazione, e sullo stile visivo generale del gioco, ma fa solo accenno alla trama principale che ruota attorno a Jason Duval e Raul Bautista. Resta da vedere quanto approfondirà l’aspetto criminale, il cuore pulsante della serie GTA, visto che la data di uscita ufficiale è ormai alle porte.
