Take-Two Defends the GTA VI Price and Digital Exclusivity: Zelnick Refuses the Speech on Disk, but does not Close All

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick reiterated the choice to maintain the basic price of GTA VI at $80 and launch exclusively in digital format, defending the value offered by Rockstar Games. Despite criticism of the high cost compared to other console titles, Zelnick emphasizes that the goal is to provide a high quality gaming experience and not maximize profit. Zelnick justified the basic price of $80 by citing inflation and saying that “we offer a far greater value than we ask.” The Ultimate edition, set at $100, includes an additional mission and access to virtual stores. According to IGN’s data, more than 70% of respondents would be interested in the Ultimate Edition, willing to pay extra $20 for its exclusive content. Despite the preponderance of digital sales – more than 90% of Take-Two's turnover comes from this channel – Zelnick has clarified that the decision not to include a playable disk at launch is a strategic choice linked to the need for connectivity for downloads and updates on modern consoles. "To play video games, today you need to be connected, so everyone is," said Zelnick. Despite the refusal to permanently exclude a physical output, Zelnick has specified that you expect a niche market for vinyl records, comparable to that of physical games, without predicting a negative impact on game sales due to the absence of the disk. "I wouldn't rule anything," he concluded. The preorders of GTA VI were described as "exceptional".
