Rockstar Consider a Sequel to L.A. Noire – A Future Project?

The speculations on the video-ludic community are increasingly focused on GTA VI, but Rockstar Games is exploring a long-term project: a sequel to the famous L.A. Noire. Although the current launch window is set for 2030, the idea is generating enthusiasm among fans. The initial noises, originally spread over 4Chan and then confirmed by GTA Forums, had already anticipated crucial details of GTA VI, such as the system of relations between the protagonists, the mechanism of criminal profiles and the initial presence of four playable characters – a detail later confirmed by Rob Nelson of Rockstar Games. The same accuracy of this information has stimulated the analysis of additional items: the existence of L.A. Noire. According to IGN US from the leak, the sequel to the 2011 investigative game would be currently in the embryonic stage of development, with an exit date scheduled for 2030. The game would abandon the Los Angeles of the 1940s to set up in the San Francisco of the 1970s, focusing on hunting the mysterious Zodiac Killer. Indiscretion also suggests that Rockstar Games intends to exploit the new facial scanning technologies of actors, evolving the MotionScan system used in the first chapter. Despite the interest aroused by the project, it remains to be assessed its feasibility. Some fans wanted immediate development for GTA 7 or a return to Red Dead Redemption, series with a strong follow-up. The choice of a direct sequel to L.A. Noire, after fifteen years from the last chapter, appears uncertain and could be replaced by a reboot that rediscovers the original imagination of the game. However, the idea remains open and will be the subject of future insights: for now, attention is focused on the release date of next November 19th, when GTA VI arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
