LA Noire: An unexpected sequel for Rockstar After GTA VI?

The future is unexpected for Rockstar Games. Although with the upcoming release of GTA VI, a 2023 voice, initially spread by a 4chan user and then resumed by GTAForums, suggests that the next major project of the studio could be a sequel to LA Noire. The setting would be San Francisco and the plot would lead around the investigation into the mystery of Zodiac Killer, one of the most famous crimes in American history. The original information, resurfaced in 2023, indicated a potential launch window not before 2030, with the aim of creating a title that set new standards in terms of graphics and narrative innovation. Although this prediction may seem optimistic, considering the resources of Rockstar Games, the fact that some information previously attributed to the same leaker has been correct – such as details about the dynamics between Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and the influence of the player's choices on their relationship – has made the indiscretion more credible. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, also opened the door to a return to the historical intellectual property of the studio, confirming the potential interest in a sequel of LA Noire. Although there have been no official statements about the project at the moment, the idea of a new chapter set in the streets of San Francisco and focused on the Zodiac Killer case is a surprising turn to the announcements related to GTA VI. The release of LA Noire, published in 2011 and set in the 1940s in Los Angeles, showed the potential of the investigation game developed by Rockstar Games, and a sequel could represent a new direction for the study.
