An indiscretion, resurfaced after years of silence, suggests that Rockstar Games could relaunch the L.A. Investigative franchise. Boring with a sequel set in the 1960s, once the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. Although the idea of a Red Dead Redemption 3 remains appealing to many fans, several sources indicate that L.A. Noire 2 could be the first project on site, with San Francisco as a setting and the plot focused on hunting the legendary Zodiac Killer. The indiscretion derives from old leaks of news published initially on 4chan in 2023 and then deepened on the GTAForums. According to sources, the sequel to the 2011 title will change the scenario, moving to the Californian city and focusing on the resolution of crimes committed by the mysterious Zodiac Killer. The reliability of this blow is supported by the forecasts made at the time by the same leaker regarding GTA 6: the anticipation of the dynamic system of relations between the two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, influenced by the choices of the players, has been accurate with the official announcements. Despite this, it is important to take this news with caution; at the moment it is a noise. Other factors are at stake. The original leaks provided an output by 2030, aiming to establish new standards for visual and graphic impact. However, considering that post-launch support for the new Grand Theft Auto extends until 2027-2028, this timing appears excessively optimistic for a complete release of L.A. Noire 2. The recent statements by Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, confirmed the interest of the group: “There is nothing to announce specifically about L.A. Noire, and if there were, it would be Rockstar to do it. But in any case, with regard to our historical IPs, the teams always keep an eye on them and we always think about it. ” 15 years after the debut of the investigative simulator set in the Los Angeles of the 1940s, the interest for a return of the noir franchise remains high. It remains to be seen if Rockstar detectives will come back to solve mysteries...
