Ricchio Svela the Secret Behind the No PC in Launch of GTA VI

The absence of a PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI at the time of launch is, according to a former producer of Rockstar Games, John Ricchio, a strategic choice aimed at optimizing resources. Ricchio, known for his work on GTA V, Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3, explained that initially focusing on the hardware specifications of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S would allow the development team to avoid overloads and focus on the main priorities of the project. Ricchio claims that develop preliminarly on PC and then having to "resize" the game for less powerful machines could lead to problems in advanced phase. Starting from the limits of the consoles would allow, on the contrary, to realize from the beginning an optimized version. Once that technical base is consolidated, you could extend your work to the PC, introducing effects and finishings suitable for the most performing hardware. Analyst refers to the first Red Dead Redemption as an example: a functioning build already existed in the early stages, but Rockstar sent back the adaptation work when he decided to devote resources to GTA V. The decision, according to Ricchio, aimed to avoid slowing down the development of a game considered priority by the study. The launch is scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; at the moment no official information has been released on PC, but Rockstar's story suggests that later conversions are possible. As examples of GTA V (used on PC on April 14, 2015) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (disposed on the market in November 2019), the publisher has previously created post-console porting.
