Rockstar: GTA VI will be developed with a new engine, drastically reduced development times

Rockstar Games' leadership announced that the next chapter of the saga will no longer require eight years of development, as for GTA V. The new approach will be based on an advanced graphic engine and optimized tools, allowing the team to create increasingly complex and engaging content in significant times. According to Hooker, the use of an existing technology base will allow greater flexibility and efficiency in development, focusing on the horizontal expansion of the game without having to rebuild the whole world starting from scratch. The goal is to offer new experiences to players faster than the GTA V development cycle. An emblematic example of this strategy was the passage from Grand Theft Auto III to Vice City, made in less than a year thanks to the foundations created with the first game. This could indicate a reduction in the duration of the waiting period for the release of GTA VI, a novelty welcomed with great enthusiasm by the community. Rockstar seems willing to avoid new delays and comply with the date of release scheduled for November 2026.
