Ex Developer Rockstar: GTA VI Restrictions on PS5 I am Colpa dei Governi

The controversy about the Grand Theft Auto VI regional block for PlayStation 5 found a strong supporter in Mike York, former developer of Rockstar Games. In an interview with Covers.com, York harshly criticizes the limitations imposed by Sony, calling it "money policy", but it attributes responsibility not to study, but to governments trying to limit access to the game. York, who has worked on projects including Grand Theft Auto V until 2017, emphasizes that the GTA 6 code for PS5 contained in the package is redeemable only according to the PlayStation account region of the buyer, preventing the importation of copies at lower prices and creating inconvenience for frequent travelers. The situation is further complicated by the expiry of the Japanese code after 170 days. While acknowledging that Rockstar would avoid controversy by distributing the game on a physical disk – an even more prudent approach given the paranoidity of the study regarding the leaks of news and marketing – York highlights Sony's restrictive policies, in contrast to Microsoft's approach to digital purchases, and the lack of regional exchange possibilities on PlayStation consoles. The issue remains a crucial node for fans waiting for the release of the title on 19 November 2026.
