Netflix unveils extended preview of GTA VI: official game release date
Officially confirmed! A long preview of Grand Theft Auto VI, the newest Rockstar Games title of the moment, will be available streaming on Netflix from August 27, 2026. The announcement is leaked and the official date has already lit the enthusiasm of fans around the world. The preview, entitled “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look”, will offer a thorough look at the game that, according to developers and critics, represents a real turning point in the saga. Brandon Riegg, Vice President of the Non-fiction Series, said: “The presentations of Grand Theft Auto have become real cultural events. The waiting and passion for GTA 6 are unprecedented and we are honored that Rockstar Games has collaborated with us to preview the next chapter of the Grand Theft Auto saga to Netflix subscribers.” The trailer, the longest ever produced, will be available at 21:00 on 27 August 2026 in Italy and at 15:00 on the eastern coast of the United States. The official synopsis introduces Jason and Lucia, two young people involved in a dangerous criminal conspiracy in the state of Leonida: “Jason and Lucia always knew that the odds were against them. But when an easy blow goes wrong, they find themselves in the dark side of the most sunny place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy that extends throughout the state of Leonida, forced to rely on one another more than ever if they want to get out alive.” The official release date of the game is set at 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. La scelta di distribuire l’anteprima solo tramite Netflix mi sembra un'operazione mirata, data la partnership con Brandon Riegg e il suo focus sulle serie documentaristiche. Quello che noto e' un'esasperata attesa per vedere quanto si allontanerà Rockstar dalla formula tipica delle GTA, soprattutto considerando la descrizione della cospirazione a Leonida, con Jason e Lucia che si ritrovano coinvolti in una situazione del tutto fuori controllo. Un colpo facile andato storto è uno degli elementi più comuni nei capitoli precedenti, ma il fatto che sia ambientato nello stato di Leonida, un’area così esotica e poco esplorata nella saga fino ad ora, suggerisce una deviazione dal pattern consolidato. Mi convince poco l'idea di un “lato oscuro del luogo più soleggiato d'America” - sebbene Ocean Beach possa essere un punto focale in futuro, Leonida sembra l’ambientazione perfetta per un thriller politico come quello descritto. Resta da capire il ruolo preciso di Cal Hampton e Raul Bautista; la menzione dei Villains suggerisce un’organizzazione criminale complessa, che potrebbe essere una componente chiave della trama. Spero che l'anteprima risponda almeno in parte alle domande che si pongono i fan riguardo alla direzione che sta prendendo questo nuovo capitolo, soprattutto in termini di narrazione e ambientazione.
