Pre-orders GTA VI: Xbox in Ritardo while PS5 Domina il Mercato – Unveil Motivations

According to Microsoft's internal voices, filtered by journalist Tom Warren, Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) reservations are heavily favouring the Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) console, leaving Xbox considerably back. The situation, detected by Redmond, is further complicated by the fall in Xbox hardware sales and uncertainties on the future Project Helix, the next generation of Microsoft consoles. Preorders for GTA 6 are highly concentrated on PS5. This scenario takes more weight considering Microsoft's hardware revenues decline over the past three years and the RAM crisis that is increasing the prices of Xbox Series X. The issue is further accentuated by the prospect of a loss of approximately 140 euros for each sold unit of the current console, making uncertain the impact of Project Helix on the future of Microsoft gaming. The relevance of GTA VI as the most anticipated title of recent years makes the situation particularly critical for CEO Asha Sharma and its relaunch plan. Preorder concentration on PS5 amplifies concerns, especially in the light of Sony's extensive installed base, a factor that naturally results in a greater number of bookings. They are not to underestimate the marketing agreements between Rockstar Games and PlayStation related to GTA 6. As reported last June, similar items indicated a clear superiority in PS5 reservations. The confirmation of this trend, despite Microsoft's initial preorder record statements, suggests a natural dynamic: who holds the broader user base tends to collect a greater number of bookings.
