GTA VI: Exclusive Trailer on Netflix and Polemiche on “Paywall”

Today, August 7, 2026, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive announced an agreement with Netflix that will see the release of the third trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI, entitled “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look”, world premiere on the platform on August 27 at 21:00 Italian (15:00 ET). The video, which promises a thorough analysis of the gameplay at Vice City and its open world, will only be available for six hours to Netflix subscribers before being released on the official YouTube channel of Rockstar Games. The decision aroused a strong reaction from the community, with numerous criticisms addressed to the “paywall” strategy for access to the promotional preview. Many users complain about a possible aggressive monetization and the idea of having to pay a subscription to see the advertising of a pre-ordered game, especially considering the controversies regarding the absence of the physical disk in retail packaging and the increase in the prices of the top titles. Market analysts stress that this move is part of the Netflix expansion strategy in the video industry and that, once the exclusive period expired, the trailer will be available for free for all users.
