Let’s face it clearly: the video game industry lives today in the shadow of Grand Theft Auto VI. Every Rockstar Games movement, every detail of Leonida and Lucia Caminos, unleashed an unprecedented hype wave, making anyone stop. The “black hole” effect GTA VI is so powerful to alter the course of the videoludic market. But between this constant pressure, some titles emerge that dare challenge the wait for the new Rockstar game. We analyze ten of these projects, evaluating every technical and narrative aspect to understand why they deserve attention, despite the long and dark shadow of GTA VI. How can an action title or an independent horror compete with a criminal simulator that promises hundreds of hours of play? The answer lies in the diversity of experiences offered. Many developers point to a tired audience of the frantic pace of open-world, seeking refuge in more linear and curated titles. Phantom Blade Zero: An Explosion of Kungfupunk Developed by S-Game, Phantom Blade Zero is a visually ambitious action title. This project, born from previous mobile experiments, aims to surprise consoles with a unique fusion between traditional Chinese martial arts and a dark fantasy steampunk aesthetic, recalling the works of FromSoftware but with a considerably higher running speed. Its world, rich in details, is an interesting alternative to waiting for GTA VI.
