Vice City Style: Case Automobilistiche e Burger King Copiano l'Art Direction di GTA VI

The aesthetics of Vice City may not have given way to the current trend Miami Vice, with colour palettes stylized as pink shocking and teals, pixelated palm silhouettes, wireframe grills, sports cars and horizons with light grids – but the game and, more recently, Grand Theft Auto VI, are certainly responsible for the wave of companies using a similar artistic style in their promotional campaigns. In fact, this aesthetic has become so synonymous with GTA 6 which, in the last month, brands like Hyundai, BMW and Burger King have compiled some social media posts to resemble the promotional art of GTA 6. The look is unmistakably GTA 6: saturated colors, tropical lighting of Vice City, dramatic sunsets, neon, glossy reflections and hyper-detailed close details that could pass through a Rockstar loading screen. Perfect for cars and motorcycles, the approach has spread far beyond the automotive industry. Unlike official partnerships, they are companies that ride the hype independently. The peak of this trend is not casual: these companies know what they are doing. The wave began immediately after the music teaser of GTA 6 and the publications of the artists in mid-September, when the aesthetics of GTA 6 was everywhere and still remains. Several companies have seen a look that has generated a high involvement and adopted it. It is opportunistic real-time marketing, whose cost is only a good art director and a trend style to copy. This is not the first case: Call of Duty, Halo and Fall Guys were already copying the teaser image of GTA 6 years ago. Now, the trend has crossed the fence of the video game industry to enter the wider world of enterprises, which represents a different level of scope. When brands like Paris FC, T-Mobile, Bob the Dealer and Hyundai copy the artistic direction, aesthetics became really mainstream. It is another sign of how far it has spread GTA 6 before its release. Rockstar Games did not spend a penny to publish Hyundai or Yamaha these contents. Game marketing has simply established the visual trend of the season, and everyone else is following it for free. This is the kind of cultural scope that money cannot buy, which gives Take-Two Interactive reason to believe that GTA 6 will help the company grow beyond video games and entertainment.
