Game Informer unveils the details of Grand Theft Auto VI: three characters and renewed gameplay

Game Informer has released a thorough analysis of Grand Theft Auto V, revealing crucial information about GTA VI. The new Rockstar title offers an unprecedented play area, surpassing the vast worlds of GTA IV, San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption. Players can control three distinct players: Michael, a former bank robber who tries to rebuild his life in luxury but is afflicted by financial problems; Trevor, a former violent military with manic tendencies, resident in the remote Blaine County; and Franklin, a young “persuasor” involved in illegal gambling activities. The game control system has been completely renewed, allowing players to change on-the-fly character via a menu similar to Google Earth. Each protagonist will have a unique personality and a plot, with missions that will evolve according to the player's choices. The robberies will be a central element of the gameplay, offering complex and engaging challenges. The game introduces new innovative mechanics, such as the interrogation of the victims to obtain different information depending on the chosen character, the possibility to fire vehicles from far away and the return of the Ammu-Nation stores. The shooting has been greatly improved, with a system that allows you to quickly switch between mid-range firearms (Michael) and sniper rifles (Franklin), while Trevor can fly a helicopter during the chases. Rockstar also implemented Max Payne 3’s film techniques, offering spectacular action sequences. Rockstar underlined that the plot of GTA VI will be the strongest of all its titles and invested in significant improvements, including a guide of the most realistic cars without the "gaming" effect, remarkably optimized shootings and a body combat "very fun and valid". The team has also faithfully reproduced Los Angeles, a similar approach to the one used for San Andreas, creating a real mega-city.
