Ex developer GTA 5 provides for a further postponement of GTA 6: "I wouldn't be surprised"
The release of GTA 6, set at 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, could be further postponed by surprise. According to Mike York, former animator who worked on GTA 5, and interviewed by Indy100, this forecast would not surprise him at all. York, which is no longer Rockstar Games, said: “After working at GTA 5, though I don’t have certain information on the subject now, based on my previous experiences, they might postpone it once again.” It admits that developers would be indifferent to a possible postponement, adding: "They can do what they want and people would wait: no matter. If they need to do what they need to do, they'll do it." York emphasizes that if Rockstar Games encountered issues with the "final issue" or bug detection, it may decide to postpone the release of six months without compromising the project. It does not consider that such a postponement would damage the company. The statement of the former developer arrives at a delicate time for the video industry, where exit dates were often planned taking into account the launch of GTA 6. As an example, Danganronpa's author has already decided to delay the release of his new game in order to play GTA 6, demonstrating the importance of waiting for the Rockstar title.
