GTA VI: Rockstar points to more realistic NPCs – Reactions to arms and magazine guide

By GTA6 Hub editorial team

Rob Nelson from Rockstar Games revealed new details about the gameplay of GTA VI, focusing in particular on the evolution of weapons and the driving system. The key change concerns the reactions of the NPCs to weapons, a significantly different aspect from the one present in GTA V where it was possible to brand weapons without immediate consequences. Nelson explained that starting from GTA VI, the NPCs will react negatively to the presence of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos armed in public, a necessary change to reflect the ambitious realism of the new title. Regardless of the type of weapon (short or long guns), the visibility of the weapon will determine the reaction of the NPCs: a single individual with a gun in his hand would remove a wave of disapproval, while the presence of a weapon hidden on the back of the protagonist would generate further agitation in the surrounding environment. Characters such as Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest, Real Dimez and Brian Heder will react differently to these situations. In parallel, the driving system has been greatly improved to provide a more realistic experience than GTA 4 and GTA V. The guide is now fluid, taking into account the weight of vehicles, transmissions, suspensions, tyres and steering. Nelson stressed the goal of creating an intuitive but authentic system, requiring greater attention in complex urban environments such as Ocean Beach, Port Gellhorn and Grassrivers. Please also note that Vapid Stanier will become more used in criminal contexts. GTA VI therefore introduces a new dynamic in interactions with NPCs, focusing on the realism of reactions and offering a more advanced and immersive driving system.
