GTA VI: Rockstar Rifiuta Microtransazioni e IA Generativa

In a time when microtransactions and artificial intelligence dominate the debate in gaming, Rockstar Games made clear choices for the launch of GTA VI. During the meetings dedicated to the presentation of the game, Rob Nelson of Rockstar North directly addressed the concerns about these issues, providing meaningful answers. GTA VI will not offer the possibility to buy content in its main experience using real money. This decision focuses on the narrative arc of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, avoiding a microtransaction model. However, Rockstar points out that this choice will not apply to GTA Online, whose future economic model still remains to be defined – considering the importance of microtransactions in GTA Online, it is premature to establish whether the new game will be completely free of real money purchases. At the same time, Rockstar has communicated a categorical refusal in the use of artificial intelligence generated for the creation of the content of the game. Despite the enormous dimensions of the project – which include over 600,000 animations, a leap compared to about 55.000 GTA V and 300,000 Red Dead Redemption 2 – Rockstar is committed to preserving the manual work of its teams in the development of the world of Leonida, with characters capable of reacting and hundreds of thousands of animated situations.
