GTA VI: Record Preorders, Analysts Predict Invoice of 5 Billions in the First Week

Grand Theft Auto VI could rewrite industry records. According to an estimate of Newzoo, the new Rockstar title could cash up to $5.2 billion in the first week, thanks to an unprecedented wave of digital preorders. The company has calculated that, since the opening of the preorders occurred a few weeks ago, approximately 260 million dollars have already been spent globally. Newzoo defines "absurd" the voices according to which the game would have already exceeded the billion dollars in preorders, emphasizing that it is not likely a similar success only with the preorders, especially considering the 21 months remaining at the launch. The Game Performance Monitor indicates that, between the United States and the five main European markets, the title has already generated about 180 million dollars. Ronan Patrick from Newzoo highlights: "The data shows $180 million in digital preorders between the United States and the five largest European markets in the last week of June, which translate into approximately $ 260 million globally, with most growth still ahead. " The forecasts are further supported by consumer behaviour, many of which opt for the US$100 edition instead of the standard 80 version. Considering the huge expectation around the new chapter - often defined the most anticipated game ever - it appears plausible that GTA VI can approach the $4 billion in the first week, exceeding the record of GTA V (1 billion in three days).
