Dan Houser rejects GTA VI's attention to new projects Absurd Ventures

Dan Houser, behind “Red Dead Redemption” and “Grand Theft Auto”, revealed the details of his next projects developed by his new company, Absurd Ventures. After leaving Rockstar Games in 2020, Houser is conducting two new projects with its new company, founded in 2023. One of the titles is an open-world comedy that will focus on the humor and memory of the characters, of which more details will be provided in the coming months. The other project is a sci-fi dystopian thriller focused on the development of video games gone wrong and on a sentient IA. The team at the base of the game consists of Jeffrey “Lazlow” Jones, Michael Unsworth and Greg Borrud, with the support of Absurd Ventures. Absurd Ventures is developing several original intellectual properties, including “A Better Paradise”, “American Caper” and “Absurdaverse”. The company intends to offer a complete transmedia experience through graphic novels, comics, fiction podcasts, books and animated series, as well as video games. Houser stressed that he wanted to avoid distractions related to the imminent release of “Grand Theft Auto VI”, including the Netflix trailer presented in August. Rockstar Games is still led by brother Sam Houser. “I haven’t seen the trailer yet,” said Houser. “I try to avoid it because it distracts me from my creative work. I spend a lot of time designing new ways to market open-world games and don't need to compare to what others might have done otherwise. ” Houser admitted not to play open-world games anymore, believing that this type of analysis can be counterproductive.
